Dear Sir, Madam,

I write in relation to the consultation to increase the number of Senedd members and also change of voting system to proportional representation.

My name is xxxxxxxxxxxxxx and I represent myself as an individual over 18 years of age. I would prefer my name is not published. I am happy that you do not treat my response as confidential.

I do not agree that the proposed changes are in the best interest of Wales. I believe that these changes are only intended to cement Labours hold on power.

Furthermore I no longer believe that Welsh Government serves the needs of the people. As a public organisation it has demonstrated poor value for money as evidenced by the excessive amount paid for Cardiff Airport, money squandered fighting infrastructure improvements such as the M4 relief road at Newport. And above all else the disgraceful amount of money spent on the disastrous and poorly implemented blanket 20mph speed limit which will have a lasting cost impact for many years to come.

The Welsh Government is no longer fit for purpose, the Government doesn’t listen to the people. It is simply an incubator for ministers whims and pet projects alongside its anti motorist agenda.

This is why I do not support further money being spent increasing the headcount of Welsh Government or the Senedd. Given the current budgetary constraints this is not the time to be spending more, quite the opposite. This is why I am astonished that Welsh Government spent over £32m on the 20mph limits, only weeks later it announced wide ranging budget cuts due to a budget shortfall. This does not support fiscal prudence, quite the opposite, it is reckless.

Mark Drakeford is not fit to hold office. Any attempt to increase Senedd members is not in the interests of the people and no changes should be made. In fact, the best solution would be to dissolve the current administration and return power to Westminster.

What began as a well intended idea to give Wales more responsibility through devolution has instead created what now feels like a dysfunctional and dangerous dictatorship. These so called elected representatives should be ashamed of what they have achieved. Welsh Government does not represent good value for money in its endeavours and has done little to improve the prosperity of Wales or its economic outlook.

Yours, a most unhappy resident of Penarth
